I am looking for a motivated Ph.D. student with at least a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or related areas and experience in rodent (mice and rats) research starting Fall 2010 at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_University; http://www.miami.muohio.edu/; graduate school website: http://www.miami.muohio.edu/graduate-studies/index.html).  Priority will be given to those who already have Master's degrees.  My research focuses on studying energy balance and related diseases such as obesity using physiology and neuroscience tools.

There are many international graduate students in the Department of Zoology from China, India, Mexico and European countries.   Around 1000 Chinese live in Oxford – my estimation.

If the candidate already has a Bachelor’s degree, s/he usually will finish Ph.D. degree around 6-7 years.  If the candidate already has a Master degree, s/he usually will finish Ph.D. degree around 5 years.  This is just average. Every graduate student who is accepted into the Department of Zoology receives an offer of financial assistance.  You do NOT need to pay any tuition.  Oxford is a college town with low living expense.  The Department offers generous graduate research assistantship or teaching assistantship.

I do not know the exact amount of stipend for 2010. I was told that one Ph.D. student stipend would be enough for a married couple to comfortably live here at Oxford Ohio.  Ph.D. student stipend is more than MS student stipend.  I know a couple, both husband and wife are Ph.D. students.  They have a 5 yr-old son and their parents live with them for the past 4 months.  They rent a 2-bedroom townhouse (>$500/month).  The whole family sometimes take road trips to nearby cities and states for fun.  Cincinnati is one hour away. Chicago is 4 hrs away.
